What do you do when...

Okay, so I was doing this short film and I was wondeing...once you reach that point inediting your video where you are trying not to put the whole thing in the recycle bin (or else trying not to throw the computer through the wall, because it is the stupid computer's fault afterall that nothing is working right) you know that point...how do you keep going? I mean, what helps you get out of that editing slump where every shot seems two seconds too short or features a beautiful cameo of your index fingure?
Any Suggestions?
Or do you ever rech that point?

what a question.

well.
i nearly stopped this one lil film i'm working on now.
I had no plot.
No ending.
just a few clips of crap we'd film.
but i guarantee you it is some AWESOME crap.

i guess what keeps me finishing is...........idk...it's like idk....some people are druggies, some people are alcoholics or w/e for me that's filming. I just have to keep doing. I can't stop. it gives me a buzz. lol.

if it's two seconds too short, i usually snip a clip right after the conversation is said, and slow down the clip a bit.....and hmmm....the finger thing hasn't occurred in my filming...but OTHER things have fallen in.
TAKE THAT BACK MY FINGER TOTALLY WAS IN THIS ONE SHOT ONE TIME!!!!!
and yeah what i did then was just crop past it in editing.

and also, for me, despite all those freeze-ups and shut-downs and complete lack of cooperation from the computer which can occur, editing is still the peaceful part.

most of what i can get to come film with me is guys.
and u kno how they get.
and working with maybe two or three at a time is fine.
but on those always-too-many scenes were i gotta get like 6 or 7 together.
oh man.
it's like being a babysitter.
and i nearly lose my voice.

so editing is the peaceful part. lol

I can totally understand! (though I'd hate to see your version of a relaxing vacation!!)
I'm a total CONTROL FREAK when it comes to editing, because I have this vision in my head and I want the whole thing to be just so...idk it's kinda cathartic in a weird sort of way. To see what was in your head translated onto the screen!! All of the sudden there is this big omg moment, where you can see that everything may come together!
How do you find your actors?
